Bariatric surgery
General information on obesity (bariatric) surgery — what the procedures involve, how they are generally carried out, and the authorised facilities in Antalya where they take place. This page does not recommend any procedure.
What "bariatric surgery" covers
Bariatric (obesity) surgery helps some people living with obesity to achieve and maintain weight loss by changing the size or the route of the stomach and intestine. It is major surgery, usually considered when other approaches have not been enough.
Whether surgery — and which procedure — is appropriate is a medical decision, made by the physician and the wider team after a full assessment in person.
Nothing here is a diagnosis, a recommendation or a promise of results. It contains no prices, no weight-loss figures and no before-and-after images. Eligibility, risks and expected outcomes are assessed by the physician at the authorised health facility, following a full in-person evaluation.
Bariatric surgery
- Gastric sleeveSleeve gastrectomy — removing part of the stomach to reduce its capacity.
- Gastric bypassRerouting the digestive tract to limit intake and absorption.
- Mini gastric bypassA simplified, single-anastomosis version of the gastric bypass.
- Gastric balloonA temporary, non-surgical device placed in the stomach.
- Revision surgeryA further procedure after previous bariatric surgery.
Each page explains, in general terms, how the procedure is performed and its possible risks and complications — no recommendation, price or promise of outcome.
Important things to understand
Bariatric procedures carry significant risks and require a thorough medical work-up. The physician explains these in full before any consent is given.
Candidacy is based on body mass index, health conditions and history, assessed by the medical team in person. Not everyone qualifies.
Long-term results depend on diet, follow-up and lifestyle changes, which the team discusses with you as part of care.
Authorised facilities in Antalya
Bariatric procedures are performed at authorised partner facilities, typically with a hospital stay. Our role is to coordinate your journey — appointments, transfers, accommodation and interpreting — while the medical side stays entirely with the facility and its physician.
